Using the Portal

A walkthrough of every screen, by tab. The same five tabs - Home, Cameras, Events, Documents, Support - appear as a sidebar on desktop and a bottom tab bar on mobile.

Home

The landing screen after sign-in - an overview across every site your account can access.

  • Summary cards - Active Sites, Cameras Online (a count out of your total cameras), Recent Alerts, and Documents, each linking through to the relevant tab.
  • Sites - every site you have access to, each as an expandable card showing its cameras with a live status indicator. Tap a camera to jump to its detail page. If your account has edit access to a site, its card also shows Arm / Disarm buttons and quick-edit links for that site's recording and arming schedules - applying a change here pushes it to every camera at the site at once, instead of one camera at a time.
  • Map - every site's location and camera positions.

If your account only has view access to a site, that site's card shows cameras and status but no arm/disarm or schedule controls.

Cameras

List view

Every camera you have access to, with name, site, a status indicator (online/offline), and last-seen time. Search by name, or filter to a specific site. Tap a camera to open its detail page.

Two tabs: Live & Playback and Schedule (Schedule only appears if your account has edit access for this site).

Live & Playback tab

  • Live view - tap Start Live View to begin streaming. This is on-demand: video only flows while you're watching. Leaving the page or going idle stops the stream automatically, and a stream also stops itself after a couple of minutes if left running - start it again to keep watching.
  • Pause/resume - pause freezes on the current frame so you can step away and pick up again from the same point, whether you're watching live or scrubbing back through a recording.
  • Recent alerts - a short list of the latest detections from this camera; tap one to see the captured snapshot and jump straight to that moment in playback.
  • Playback timeline - a scrubber under the player showing recorded segments for the selected day (pulled from the camera's SD card).
    • Tap anywhere on the timeline to play back from that point.
    • Drag to pan across the day, scroll/pinch to zoom in on a time range.
    • Gaps in the timeline mean nothing was recorded then - often because nothing triggered recording (see Schedule below), or because older footage has already been overwritten by newer recordings. SD cards typically hold only days to weeks of footage, so older events may no longer have playable video.

Schedule tab

(Visible only if your account has edit access to this site.)

Two sub-tabs, each a 7-day visual editor:

  • Recording - when this camera records. Drag across the grid to paint blocks of time, choosing from the recording types this camera supports (Continuous, Motion, Alarm, Motion & Alarm, or Event) - each shown in its own colour. Tap an existing block to edit its time range or type, or delete it.
  • Arming - when detection is active for this camera: intrusion, line crossing, and video tampering all arm and disarm together (armed = alerts are generated when triggered; disarmed = the camera keeps recording per its schedule but won't raise alerts). Drag to add an armed window; tap one to edit or delete it.

Changes are saved and pushed to the camera - this can take a short time to apply. If you don't see the Schedule tab, your account is view-only for this site; contact SiteView to request changes.

Events

A list of alerts across every site you have access to, grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, then by day) with the most recent first.

  • Each row shows the event type, the camera and time, and - if the underlying footage has since been overwritten on the SD card - an "Expired" badge in place of playback.
  • Tap a row to see the captured snapshot, then play back from that moment or download the clip if one is available.
  • Use this tab to quickly review "what happened" across all your sites without opening each camera individually.

Documents

Quotes, bookings, invoices, and reference files for your sites, filed under category tabs: All Documents, Quotes, Site Plans, Invoices, Reports, Compliance, Other.

  • List - each entry shows an icon for its file type (or a Quote/Invoice/ Booking chip for hire documents), name, site, and date. Search across all categories, or narrow to one tab.
  • View / Download - open a file in a new tab, or download it. A quote, booking, or invoice opens its own detail view instead, showing line items, totals (subtotal, GST, total, paid, balance), and payment history. This is read-only - for payment arrangements, contact SiteView.
  • Delete - only available on files you personally uploaded; hire documents and files uploaded by someone else on your account can't be deleted from the portal.
  • Upload Document - if your account has edit access to a site's documents, upload a file with a name, category, and (if you have more than one eligible site) which site it belongs to.

Only documents SiteView has marked as visible to the portal appear here - internal-only quotes, drafts, and site files aren't shown. The Documents tab itself only appears if at least one of your sites has document access enabled.

Support

Contact information and answers to common questions:

  • Call / Email - reach SiteView support directly.
  • Documentation - a link to the full documentation site.
  • FAQs - a short list of common questions (starting live view, watching recorded footage, arming/disarming a site, changing schedules, requesting a new site, and finding documents), each expandable for a quick answer without leaving the app.

Account

Tap your avatar (top-right on desktop, top-right on mobile) to open the account menu:

  • Profile - update your first name, last name, mobile phone, and email address. Changing your email here also changes the address SiteView sends future sign-in codes to, so make sure it's one you can access before saving.
  • Sign out.

A separate sun/moon icon next to your avatar toggles light/dark mode at any time, independent of the account menu.
